A Faster Way to Get Ahead

As mentioned earlier, registering with Guru is free but they do offer paid memberships with more with more features. Though this puts free members at a disadvantage, those who can afford paying the membership fee can use it to get ahead of their competition and make more money. Guru has the following membership plans:

  • Basic $8.95 : 600 bids/yr. and 8.95% commission
  • Professional $15.95 : 600 bids/yr. with 100 bid rollover/yr. and 6.95% commission
  • Business $24.95 : 600 bids/yr. with 200 bid rollover/yr. and 5.95% commission
  • Executive $39.95 : 600 bids/yr. with 300 bid rollover/yr. and 4.95% commission

All paid versions get the same amount of bids a year but the difference is the amount of unused bids that rollover to the next year. The higher memberships also have lower commissions rates so Guru takes less from what you earn for jobs which is good for people who are earning large amounts of money.

So if you opt for a paid membership you can apply to more jobs a year than a free membership can and you get to take home a higher percentage of your pay.

Guru Review 2020 – Conclusion

As a freelancer, it is best not to put all your eggs in one basket. Meaning using only one freelancer website may not be in your best interest. Guru offers free membership, so there is literally no risk of registering with them to start searching for a job. There is no perfect freelancer website or platform or marketplace and you have to understand that there are good and bad points to Guru as well. All in all it is still a pretty decent service as long as you make an extra effort to find the right jobs and employers so you don’t fall victim to people who only want to take advantage of others. But that is the risk of a freelancer.
