Subscription Boxes: Here Today or Here to Stay?

The basic concept isn’t new: the subscription business model is a solid marketing strategy, and has been in use for decades now. Subscription Boxes: What Are They and How Do They Work?

Shopping is supposed to be a fun activity: a way of treating yourself for a job well done, or cheering yourself up when you feel down. For some, it’s a regular ritual to walk from store to store, try out items, and eventually pick out stuff to take home. If you want to skip walking […]

How Does It Work?

Food and snack subscription boxes work a little differently than your typical subscription boxes. Most, if not all of them, involve choosing a plan or setting up a profile. The profile or plan is based on the type of food and snacks the companies offer. For example: for wines, you'll need to setup a palate profile; for snacks, a selection of items you like to munch on and an indication of how often you do eat; for others, they may be a specific set of ingredients to be included in their boxes all the time. Food boxes also usually have to be signed for, making sure that they are received, because most items have expiration dates.

Of course, not all of the services in the list above are perfect for everybody. However, it's not difficult to find something you'll like, because these boxes are specialized and customized! There are subscription boxes specifically aimed for those looking to eat more healthy food, those looking for cured meats, those who are looking for sweets, those looking to get quality ingredients and recipes, and much more. Take a look at each to see which ones are best suited to your preferences.

What Makes a Great Food & Snack Subscription Box?

Since subscription boxes are already so personalized--whether or not the one who does the curating is you or the company--there's very little to consider that's not in the realm of the obvious. Of course we want subscription boxes that are easy to customize, easy to pay for, and easy to cancel. Of course we want delivery dates to be consistent. Of course we'd enjoy a diverse number of items in each box. Because we're talking about food boxes: of course we want the contents to be the freshest possible. But in the end, whatever your subscription box holds, it should be a collection of products and samples that interest you.
