Why Kiwi Crate Is The Best Subscription Box for Kids
We love a brand that keeps on improving and going beyond its original scope, and that’s exactly what we see in KiwiCo. They started with the Kiwi Crate for children aged 5-8.
From there, KiwiCo has blossomed into a company currently offering seven unique and carefully curated monthly box subscriptions for children.
KiwiCo Blog Features and DIY Ideas
Though the activity subscription service is Kiwi Crate’s forte, it’s not the only thing they offer. Alongside their monthly crates are features that inspire that DIY, hands-on spirit that they’re so keen on encouraging through their products.
Are you and your child are done with the projects offered by your monthly KiwiCo crate? The company’s official website has a robust content section where you can find hundreds of different DIY projects you can do with basic household items and simple instructions. You can browse through them by theme and by popularity.
Apart from what’s already on the site all year round, Kiwi Crate also offers unique DIY ideas depending on the season, as well as free printable projects.
You can check their website from time to time to make sure you don’t miss any activities you and your child will enjoy. If you want to be kept in the loop, you can sign up for their newsletter to receive more ideas and inspirations regularly, too.
KiwiCo for Families and Schools
Community participation is also a big part of their brand. Parents can follow KiwiCo on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Younger children can also send their letters, drawings and photos directly to Steve the Kiwi—the company mascot—via email or snail mail.
Are you teacher or otherwise working in the education sector? You’ll be happy to know that KiwiCo is not just for families. KiwiCo’s ever-growing passion for community building also applies to educational institutions.
The company offers products that hold up to either or both Common Core or Next Generation Science Standards. For now, bulk orders of ten or more crates for schools come with discounts.
As of 2019, KiwiCo is working on making curated classroom packs suitable for group activities. These will be ideal for camps, classrooms, parties, and the like.

About Kiwi Crate Themes
KiwiCo is fueled by the desire to make learning accessible, interesting and fun. They focus on STEAM: Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math.
Not every KiwiCo box subscription will nurture a love for all of these branches of learning and development equally. That’s a lot to ask! Instead, KiwiCo notes the theme of each line of monthly crates they offer.
Parents and educators should take both the crate themes and recommended age brackets into account when they shop for their children and students.
Visit Kiwi Crate Now!KiwiCo Online Store Products
Apart from their subscriptions, Kiwi Crate has a well-structured online store.
Here you can easily shop for one-off single crates (at a higher price point compared to monthly crates), and individual items. The latter is mostly limited to books and smaller kits designed to be party favors.
You can filter the items shown by category, as well as subscription type, to show you previous crates still in stock that you may want to try.
Particularly helpful are the price range filters, which help you narrow down items by price point. The sale section is a godsend, as well. It shows you all the store’s discounted items.
KiwiCo Customer Support
Kiwi Crate offers a lot of ways to help you with any and every concern you might have about their services and products.
They have provided an extensive FAQ section with dozens of articles outlining self-help options. You can also contact their representatives directly through email or connect with their social media pages (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Google+ and Instagram).
KiwiCo Crate Subscription Pricing
Each crate costs anywhere from $16.95 to $24.95 when you buy them as one-off single purchases, plus shipping if your final checkout amount is under $50.
If you would like to cut down the cost, you can get a subscription to receive regular monthly crates. Subscribers anywhere in the US get free shipping.
Kiwi Crate Coupons, Discounts and Promo Codes
Yes, the price of a KiwiCo crate subscription may be a little steep when you consider how much the individual components cost. However, it is the convenience and efficiency KiwiCo offers that makes their price points great value nonetheless.
Need a little more to sweeten the deal? We hear you, and so does KiwiCo. Even a single month subscription comes out to $5 less than the price of a one-off crate purchase from the KiwiCo store. The longer the subscription period you par for, the larger the discount applied.
KiwiCo also offers promo codes during certain holidays, and coupons or credit for special exceptions. Case in point: They have a program that may net you and your referred friend/s store credit for each successful referral.
What's the Verdict on Kiwi Crate?
Kiwi Crate Review 2020: Conclusion
If you are looking for fun activities to do with your child, which will also help them build certain cognitive skills, then Kiwi Crate is the way to go. They offer lots of fun and creative activities that you can enjoy with your children at quite reasonable prices.
Individual purchases from their store may not offer the best value, but that’s where Kiwi Crate’s subscription options come in. Purchasing a one-off single crate isn’t a bad idea if you want to try their products and see how your child likes them before committing to a subscription, though.
With new activities each month and varying themes that are great for children of all ages, there’s no reason not to check out Kiwi Crate.

Kiwi crates were a great birthday gift, or so I thought until I found they automatically renew for a subscription period again and can not be turned off mid subscription.
Hi Rhoda,
Yeah–as a subscription service, they auto-renew by default. If you want to cancel, it should be prior to the renewal date (by 11:59pm PT the day before renewal, to be exact). Cancelling mid-subscription should be fine, if you don’t want to receive the gifts that are scheduled for the next month. Hope that helps! 🙂
Just don’t do it if you are sending to multiple kids at one household. Even after asking them twice to ensure all kits arrive at the same time, they don’t. The kits material are very cheaply made. Worst surprise gift I have ever purchase.
