Best Web Hosting Companies 2019

With today’s technology and flow of information, you don’t have to be a highly technical geek to be able to build and run your own website. You can find tons of hosting providers with a single Google search, and you’ll have more than enough guidance from the hosting companies themselves. Gone are the days when you had to be absolutely reliant on highly skilled IT personnel for your digital space. Now, while you’ll still need tech support for rare and complex cases, you can do the basic setup on your own.

Also, here are some important things we looked at for our rankings.

Storage and Bandwidth

First and foremost, since you'll be storing your website's files and data on your hosting provider's servers, having enough storage space is a must. On a similar note, your bandwidth allowance is equally important: it determines the maximum amount of data that you and your visitors can upload and download, usually on a monthly basis.

A vast majority of hosting companies offer unmetered allocations for both features, under the agreement that you don't exceed normal usage rates. These unlimited allocations are a good choice if you're planning to install lots of web applications and expect a sizable amount of traffic. Meanwhile, if you already have an accurate estimate of your usage and believe you can keep it under pre-set limits, then you can probably save a few dollars by sticking to limited plans.

Whichever you pick, be sure to stick to your agreed usage rates. Most providers will charge you overage fees for exceeding your account's resources. The worst-case scenario? Your provider might even suspend or shut down your account entirely.

Uptime Performance

With the industry standard for uptime performance at 99.9%, there's no excuse for any provider to deliver subpar service, especially when technology is improving every day. In rare cases, attacks from hackers and malicious software can affect a server's operations; however, experiencing frequent or extended downtime due to hardware problems is definitely unacceptable. Every second counts when it comes to your online presence, and since your website's availability depends on your hosting provider, the company should be able to walk its talk.

Compatible Web Tools

There are hundreds of web tools out in the wild - from Content Management Systems (CMS) and website builders to control panels and online shopping carts - which can make the website-building process a lot easier. With one-click installaters, you can quickly deploy and manage these tools from your account, saving you time and effort. Remember, though, that different web hosts offer compatibility with a different set of web tools. If you have a specific application in mind for use on your website, don't forget to check if your hosting provider supports it.

Renewal Rates

Many web hosting providers offer marked-down plans for the initial subscription period to entice customers to try their services. However, a careful reading of the fine print often tells you that your subscription will auto-renew at the regular prices, which sometimes cost as much as double your sign-up fee. While this is common practice, there may be some confusion once plan renewal time arrives. It's best to check the full details of your hosting provider's offers. Alternatively, you can look for companies with fixed prices if you want to avoid paying more in the long run.

Support

Lastly, a solid support team with your hosting service is crucial. Support teams will guide you from setup to launch and beyond. Usually, providers make themselves available 24/7 via live chat, phone and/or email, and many strive to iron out your concerns as quickly as possible. Of course, this doesn't necessarily indicate top-quality customer assistance, and the level of support you'll get may vary. Be sure to check our reviews to see which companies stand out when it comes to customer service.

  • I am using Unisecure Data Centers hosting services currently for our company. I am using them from last 6 months & np problems yet. They have good server uptime and best pricing plans. I hope I won’t need to dial customer support every now & then. Any reviews about this company.

    • Hi Steven,

We don’t have a review for this, unfortunately. We’ll see if Unisecure fits our list. 🙂

  • I’ve tried four of these “best website hosts” and here’s what I have to say about my experience. The two of them were good (BlueHost and iPage), one was just awful and I would never even think about recommending it to my worst enemy (GoDaddy) and one of them, the one I’m currently using right now (SiteGround), is just marvelous! Not only do they have excellent performance, their support is also superb. No wonder plenty of review sites consider it as one of the best website hosts. If anyone here wants an exceptional hosting service, go for SiteGround!
