Whether you are a long time comic book fan, or a comic collector in the making, you will find Forbidden Planet to be a solid service when it comes to subscribing to your favorite comic book series. With a whole boatload of publishers and titles under their roof, you won’t have any difficulty finding both famous and obscure comics. They also do not impose any minimum requirement for orders, so you can subscribe to a single title and proceed to have it delivered right to your doorstep. Intrigued yet?

Pricing and Features

Your monthly charges will depend on the titles that you subscribe to, and you will only be billed once your order has shipped. All of the most current releases up to the shipping date will be included. The subscription schedule is organized by surname, which is as follows: week one- previews release; week two- A to G; week three- H to P, and week four- Q to Z.

Comic book titles are advertised two months in advance, and customers who sign up for a new subscription will have their first delivery sent in about eight weeks after confirmation (an email will be sent for this confirmation). After which, the deliveries will revert back to the regular monthly schedule.

As previously mentioned, there is no minimum order required, meaning you can subscribe to one comic book only and your order will still be processed and sent out. However, it is important to note that you will be assigned a certain deadline in modifying your order, and after this date, you can only remove titles from your list. Since Forbidden Planet ships out only once a month, it would be advisable to browse their catalog and look for titles that you may like, so that you can subscribe to them early on and have the latest issues included in your closest order delivery.

Forbidden Planet’s comic book collection consists of various series from Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, Image, IDW Publishing, Dynamite Entertainment, Boom! Studios, Avatar Press, Titan and Titan Books, as well as independent publishers. They offer physical copies of these comic books which will be delivered right at your doorstep wherever you may be located in the globe, although there is a shipping fee that you will need to shoulder which is dependent on your order’s total size, weight, and its destination.

As of this writing, Forbidden Planet only has digital comics under DC and Titan Comics, with purchases for the latter done on a third-party website. As for DC digital comics, they have yet to offer a subscription service and only has single issue purchases. Despite this limitation, it does not erase the fact that they offer a great physical comic book subscription service that you can stick with to complete your collection of your favorite series.

Customer Service

Forbidden Planet has an extensive FAQ section discussing order processing, packaging, shipping, canceling, billing, and other important information. If you feel the need to get in touch with their support team, you can do so by initiating a live chat option, phone call, or by leaving a message in their contact form, although you will need to identify the nature of your concern first to help them identify the solution faster. Their office is open from Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 6 PM. You can also follow them via social media in Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Instagram, and Flickr.

Don’t Like It? Return It!

If you happened to order a specific title that you aren’t really fond of, you still have the option to return it within 14 days of receipt. They will then refund you for the amount of the comic book returned, sans shipping cost. Of course, it would be best to contact their team first to inform them of this request, so processing of your refund will go smoothly.

As with any return request, it is important to make sure that the comic book is in the same condition as it was upon delivery. It must be noted, however, that Forbidden Planet states that they do not currently offer refunds or replacements for items bought in their online store. Still, it is nice for Forbidden Planet to open this option, as many other comic subscription services do not even have a return offer.
