The RealReal makes consignment easy and hassle free with their services. If you plan to sign up to be a consigner with them, there are two ways for you to give them your items. They can either send a sales manager to your house to evaluate and pick up the items (not all locations are serviced and there is a minimum of 10 items to qualify for pick up), or you can request a free pouch from them and send the items in.

After that, The RealReal will take care of the rest, from authentication, photographing, describing and posting to their online store. All you have to do is wait, which can be as fast as 3 days, for an item to sell and for The RealReal to credit you with your share of the profits. This is mainly why they charge a large amount for commission since they are basically doing all the work for you, and compared to brick and mortar stores the amount they charge is not that bad.

First Look Member

Signing up for a membership with The RealReal is free as they make their money on commissions from sales. Although, there is one kind of membership that they have wherein you have to pay a small fee of $5 a month which is called the First Look Membership. This membership gives you 24 hour advance access to sales and special invitations to promotions so you always get first crack at anything new that they have to offer.
