SEO Tips Of The Trade

  1. Content Is Extremely Important

When working on your SEO, you need to remember that Google loves content. Google, through their search engine, is trying to make the internet a better place for consumers. This means that they are looking for rich and expansive website that not only give the consumer the best website for their search but one that is also going to answer other possible problems as well. If you take SEO from a consumers approach you can’t go wrong.

This is why content is super important. You need to build your website like the “end-all” website for your keywords. For example, if you are a company that is in the real estate game, your website shouldn’t just be about selling and buying real estate. It should be an information hub for all things real estate. You’ll want to add maps, databases for housing, and anything you could think of that would enrich the users experience on your website.

  1. Use Google+

Using Google Plus is a sneaky way for Google to create their social network. When they first launch Google+, the website was supposed to be a rival for Facebook. But what it has turned into is a way for you to increase the legitimacy of your website.  You see, Google needs to increase their user base, whether it is companies or actual people. Think of it as getting on the good side of Google, go ahead and register your business and your employees on Google+. Couple of minutes of your time will make a world of difference for your SEO.

  1. Loading Times Are Important

An overarching theme for SEO is enriching the user’s experience. Imagine that you are a user of your favorite website. One day you logon to your favorite website and you notice the loading time is horrific. You sit in your chair for a minute not doing anything. How do you feel? Deep down inside there is a part of you that wants everything right now. Even if it’s your favorite website, something wants to move on and do something else. This isn’t just specific to you, everyone feels the same way.

That is why you need to have a website that is lightning fast. Most professionally developed websites have an under one second rule. Research has found if your website loads in anything about the one second threshold, your website will likely be ignored and the person will move on and not visit your website. How do you accomplish the under one second loading time? Stay away from large images that are greater than 1 megabyte. Cut your images into little images that will load faster. Remember that not everyone in your market who wants to view your website has a 100 MB/s connection.

  1. Focus Less On Specific Keywords

When I say focus less on specific keywords I mean don’t overdo it. If your keyword is “home building,” do not put that keyword everywhere on your website. Find other words for describing home building. Google has become a lot smarter when it comes to SEO and all the stupid tricks that companies use to do like spamming keywords isn’t working anymore. So while specific keywords will always be important, you don’t want to end up on Google’s bad side. Keep you keyword usage relevant and up there but make sure you aren’t misusing the keyword to gain an unfair advantage.

  1. Think Mobile

Mobile is becoming the most important aspect of the modern internet. This is often an area my clients can use to gain an advantage on other competitors. Most companies’ websites, when it comes to mobile, offer a horrible experience.  Google recognizes this. You need to ensure that your website isn’t a infinity scroll nightmare. Think from the customer’s perspective and give them all the things they would want from your mobile website. Do a lot of A/B testing to get this job done.

  1. Plan Your Content

Planning your content is very important as it falls under the rule “content is king.” You want to make sure that your company’s website is updating at least twice a day. A quick way to do this is putting out blogs and articles 3-4 times a day. This is the sweet spot for Google. You can do this easily with programs like WordPress and just schedule the program to release the information.
